As phones are spreading into everywhere in our life, we use it quite often to contact our acquainted people. Less people would like to write letters to their friends as for contact purpose. Some people believe that phone call or message is faster than letters. But others don’t think so. They tend to communicate with their friends by letter for they think letters can fully express their emotions. For me, I agree that phone is convenient than letters. Reasons are listed below:
First of all, communicate with others by phone is faster than by letters. We can call our friends in a minute and get the latest information about them. But if you want to write a letter, then it takes you minutes to write a letter for them and you will also get the outdated information about them.
Secondly, phone is convenient than letter. If we call others, all we need to do is to dial their number and make phone calls no matter where are you. But if we write letters to others, then we need time to write words down and send letters. Compare with the phone call, letter seems to do more work than make phone call.
All in all, phone is much convenient and saves us time to contact or communicate with others comparing with letters. Therefore, an increasing number of people tend to use phone instead of letter.
computers in students' flats (宿舍) are a catch word on campus. an increasing number of students can afford or hire computers. they appreciate a chance to learn about computers from the comfort of their own flats, without the embarrassment (尷尬,難為情) or shyness of going into a computer hall and feeling not educated.
the world is changing with a speed like never before, and students feel that computers are playing an important role in that change. they agree that they must have computer skills to survive in today's world. they get on board, cease to be computer illiterate (電腦盲) on the information highway. no student should enter the future without being computer literate.
while students take giant steps to catch up on the information superhighway, they should be alerted to problems of buying or renting computers. playing games or surfing aimlessly on the internet will do much harm. otherwise, any attempt to learn computer will end up as nothing but an empty dream.

study abroad
Studying abroad is the act of a student pursuing educational opportunities in a foreigncountry. Typically classes taken while studying abroad award credits transferable to higher education institutions in the home country. However, students may pursue these opportunities at any age and may not require college credit. Students studying abroad may live in a dormitory or apartment with other students or with a host family, a group of people who live in that country and agree to provide student lodging.
Length of study can range from one week, usually during a domestic break, to an academic year.
Topics of study can vary. Some students choose to study abroad in order to learn a language from native speakers. Others may take classes in their academic major in a place that allows them to expand their hands-on experience . Still other students may study abroad in order to explore topics within the framework of a different educational system .
The act of studying abroad originated at the University of Delaware. In 1923, Professor Raymond W. Kirkbride sent a group of 8 students to Paris, France. At the time, the concept of students studying in a different country was incredibly unconventional. Kirkbrides program was originally named the Foreign Study Plan. For a period of time, study abroad was seen as an option primarily for foreign language students. Recently this has changed, and the scope of study abroad programs has increased greatly.
