The Lunar New Year is a great occasion to the Chinese people. It lasts about the first four days of the year， during which people do not work except for the workers on duty. Students do not go to school， and shops are closed.
Several days before the new year， people begin to prepare. Farmers kill pigs， sheep， cocks and hens. City dwellers buy meat fish and vegetables. Houses are cleaned； coupletsare posted on the doors. Colourful lanterns are hung at the gate.
On the eve of the new year， each family has its members gatherd together and eats a family reunion dinner. After the meal they watch TV until the clock strickes twelve. Then every family sets off long strings of small firecrackers and other fire works to welcome the new year. On the first day of the new year， almost everyone is dressed in his or her best. When people meet on the way， they say to each other "Happy New Year". Friends and relatives pay new year calls and gives presents to each other. Children indulge themselves in games.

The New Year is finally here! The most memorable thing about this New Year is that I set off firecrackers with my brother.
My brother and I are going to buy two kinds of firecrackers, because our pocket money is not much.
We bought a firecracker called a fountain, a kind of rocket. We set off the rocket fire: it looks like it's a rocket, it's a little rocket strapped to a stick. We put the rocket on the side of the house because it was drizzling, so we were not afraid of the house on fire. The elder brother crouched down to the right foot to take a stride, the left hand covers the left ear, slowly approaching "rocket", lighting the fuse with a lighter, then quickly ran away. "Whoosh," and the name of the firecracker, flying up into the sky like a rocket, then "snapped, blossomed.
"Fountain" has me to put: this "fountain", just bought like a fountain. The fountain has a long fuse, so I don't have to be like my brother. I put the "fountain" on a clearing, then (because I hate cigarette lighter), a lighted match to fuse, and then I swagger walk backwards, after more than ten seconds, "fountain" start "injection", with firecrackers name again, like a fountain spray, color is colorful, almost all color have.
I set off firecrackers this year, I am happy and funny, just like a fire in the winter, always buried in my heart, make me unforgettable all my life.
