As an English student I have participated in some social practice activities in school such as visiting orphanages and schools for left-behind children. Recently I went to a nursing home as a volunteer which was a very meaningful experience.
As a volunteer my main job was to communicate accompany and take care of the elderlys daily life. I found that the elderly in the nursing home need a lot of care and companionship because their physical and mental conditions are mostly weak. I chatted with them listened to their stories sang and danced with them which made them feel happy and relaxed.
In the nursing home I saw many touching stories. There was an old lady who was almost ninety years old but she was very optimistic and open-minded. Her experiences inspired and moved me deeply there was also an old man who was a retired doctor. He told me about his medical career and his insights into medical science which benefited me a lot.
Through this volunteer activity I deeply realized the importance and respect for the elderly and also became more grateful and cherished my own life and time. At the same time I also discovered the problems and shortcomings in society such as the conditions and services in nursing homes need more attention and support.
As an English student I also had the opportunity to apply my language and communication skills in practice and become a bridge for communication with the elderly. This made me more confident and valuable and also strengthened my sense of social responsibility and public welfare awareness.

去養(yǎng)老院志愿的英語作文 6
As for elderly, living in caring house is better than living at home with young children. Present your argument to illustrate whether you agree or disagree.
Nowadays more and more elderly choose living in caring house. Some people are of the opinion that caring houses provide old people with a better environment than homes. Personally I agree with this opinion for the following reasons.
In the first instance, caring house provides the elderly with comparatively first-rate facilities and services, which the family is lacking in. Nowadays working couple need to face intense competition, they need to make more money to support their family. As a result, working couple have less time to care for old people especially when the elderly suffer from serious disease. On the contrary, when old people live in caring houses, nurses can attend their need and advanced facilities also provide a good treatment.
Secondly, in caring houses the older people can meet people of similar age group, taste and hobby who know more about the elderly. The young generation often has a different life style from old generation. Young people many feel other’s presence would upset. Besides, the older people need more serenity and rest while the young need more activities when the elderly choose living in caring house they need not worry about this problem.
Last but not least, elder people living in caring house can maintain harmony of family atmosphere. It is quite obvious that there is a generation gap between the older people and adult children. For example, old people fear change. They adhere to the traditional principle and customs while young people welcome new idea. They are always trying new things. It is inevitable that older people and adult children might have different opinions on something. These differences might result in the disagreement even discord.
From what has been discussed above, we may draw the conclusion that elderly people living in caring house is a good practice not only for adult children but also for older people. However, it does not mean children will give up the responsibility to care older people.
去養(yǎng)老院志愿的英語作文 7
Our class had already planned to go to Handian Nursing Home to visit those old people living there . We were all eager to go there as soon as we can. And today this time really came, so you could image how happy we were.
At about 8:00 in the morning , with tools in hands, we went out of our school towards the Handian Nursing Home
It was about 9:00 when we arrived there. Though we were a little tired, none of us wanted to have a rest. As some of those old people seldom came out, so some of us helped them walk around to breathe the fresh air. Some help them to wash their clothes, and the others swept the ground. Most of us never do such things at home, so we maybe didn’t do these well, but we all tried our best.
At about 11:55,we had lunch with them, and our monitor stood for us to bless them devoutly. During the lunch time, we were all very happy. After lunch, we had a party with those old people.
Before we came here, we had already prepared some songs for them. As we expected, they all felt great pleased with our programs. Though maybe we didn’t performed well, the smile on their faces made us very happy.
Happy time always goes fast. Though we didn’t notice that we had stayed here for a long time, the clock on the wall informed us clearly that it was time for us to go home. So we had to say good bye to those old people.
On the way home, we all said this was really a signnificant day, and we decided to come back again whenever we had time.

Title: A Rewarding Experience at the Nursing Home
Volunteering has always been a passion of mine, as it provides me with the opportunity to give back to society and make a positive impact on others lives. One of the most rewarding volunteer experiences Ive had was my time spent at the local nursing home. It was an experience that not only enriched the lives of the residents but also left a profound impact on me.
On a sunny Saturday morning, I arrived at the nursing home, armed with a bag full of enthusiasm and a heart full of compassion. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with friendly staff greeting me at the entrance. I was introduced to the residents, each with their own unique story and personality. Some were cheerful and chatty, while others were more reserved and quiet.
My main task for the day was to assist the residents with their daily activities and provide them with companionship. I helped one resident with her morning exercises, gently stretching her arms and legs to keep her body limber. She smiled warmly and thanked me, her gratitude shining in her eyes. It was a simple act, but it meant the world to her.
Throughout the day, I engaged in various activities with the residents. We played board games, sang songs, and even painted together. One resident, a retired artist, shared her love of painting with me and taught me some basic techniques. It was fascinating to see how her creativity and passion for art had not dimmed over time.
However, the most memorable moment of the day came when I sat down to chat with a resident who had recently lost her husband. She was visibly sad and lonely, and her eyes welled up with tears as she talked about her past. I listened attentively, offering words of comfort and reassurance. In that moment, I realized the true power of companionship and how it can bring comfort and joy to someones life.
As the day came to a close, I reflected on the experiences I had shared with the residents. I had learned so much from them, about life, love, and resilience. They had shown me that age is just a number and that its never too late to pursue happiness and fulfillment.
In conclusion, my experience at the nursing home was truly rewarding. It reminded me of the importance of giving back to society and making a positive impact on others lives. I left with a heart full of gratitude and a renewed sense of purpose. I am already looking forward to my next visit, eager to continue building meaningful relationships with the residents and making a difference in their lives.
去養(yǎng)老院志愿的英語作文 10
Last weekend, I took part in a volunteering activity at a local nursing home. It was an incredibly rewarding experience that left a deep impression on me.
Before going, our group carefully planned the activities. We prepared some simple yet heartwarming gifts, such as hand - made cards and fresh flowers. We also practiced several songs and stories to share with the elderly.
Upon arrival, we were greeted with warm smiles from the residents. First, we helped clean their rooms, tidying up the beds and wiping the windows. After that, we sat down with them and started our entertainment session. We sang classic songs, and they joined in with us, their voices filled with joy. Some of us told interesting stories, making the elderly laugh heartily.
One of the most touching moments was when an old lady, Mrs. Brown, shared her life stories with me. She talked about her youth, her family, and the difficulties she had overcome. Listening to her, I felt a strong connection and a newfound respect for the wisdom that comes with age.
As the day came to an end, we said goodbye to the residents. They thanked us sincerely, and their gratitude made all our efforts worthwhile. This volunteering experience taught me the importance of caring for the elderly. It not only brought happiness to them but also made me a more empathetic and responsible person. I am looking forward to more opportunities to volunteer and spread love in the future.
